Return by Megan Russo

Endless seconds flying by with each breath.

A trembling that creeps up my spine.

A pull that brought me back to that place.

The once upturned earth.

Now just one of many.

You aren’t special.

I saw your grave today.

Overgrown with vicious nature.

I couldn’t read the words.

Fingers running over the carved stone.

Mouthing along with the syllables.

You’re still gone.

Now what?

I don’t know.

I didn’t think I’d live this long.
