Melis Gördem is one of our regular contributors. She is in her second-year at Rutgers University as of the Fall 2019 semester. She is currently majoring in Psychology and minoring in Creative Writing to get the best of both worlds of her passions. Besides balancing her tedious coursework, she enjoys writing melodramatic poetry in the spur of the moment or when she is reminiscing life experiences. One of her fervor poems, “why i didn’t march,” is featured on the She Will Speak Series: Gender Based Violence Anthology curated by Cheyenne Tyler Jacobs. To find out where else her poetry is residing at, check out her Instagram, @lovecommamelis, for further updates. She hopes that with her introspective poetry, her voice will be heard.
