Trying to Write About Other Things by Rickey Rivers Jr.

Trying not to write about you became very difficult indeed.
In turn, writing of anything else became chore like and frustrating.

The poem about the universe became your portrait.
The poem about food became your meal.
The poem about rest became your bed.

Why are you still in my head?

Rickey Rivers Jr was born and raised in Alabama. He is a writer and cancer survivor. His stories and poems have appeared in various publications and are forthcoming in Picaroon Poetry, Dodging the Rain, Neon Mariposa (among other publications).
