Unhinged by Lannie Stabile

Her razor lips slice open my smile,
widening it
I don’t know if I should
whimper at blood-soaked cavities
or terrorize comic book cities

I prefer the taste of pennies to crow

A crimson blade,
forked and hissing,
licks a slippery trail down my back
There is a familiar wound
she slides into perfectly

We’ve traveled this betrayal before

Two slender constrictors
cover an unsuspecting chest,
crushing the cage she keeps me in,
until my heart is on the outside
and vulnerable

Beaten into Eden-like submission

She is a devastating and beautiful beast
with large moonlit jaws
Unhinged,
open to a catastrophic love,
but too busy howling into others’ skies

She swallowed my God damned world whole
