Christmas Spirit by A.M. Walsh

we danced together on the midnight

white dusting of primordial silence, where our

slow, sweeping steps preserved our duet.

we haunted the gentle walls of

glowing embers, mirrored in the beating hearth

the skipping heartbeat of a stolen kiss.

we split the monastic dark with our song,

our breath heavy with anticipation, whilst

the calm stellar tapestry caught

chimneys coughing halos for Christmas morning.
